Satellic Celebrates a Decade of Innovation and Leadership in the Tolling Industry

Satellic, a pioneer in electronic toll collection for HGV, is celebrating its 10th anniversary this month. Over the past decade, the company has enhanced the tolling industry with cutting-edge technology and innovative solutions, establishing itself as a Belgian leader in the tolling business and a model in the European landscape.

Founded in 2014, Satellic set out with a mission to implement a toll collection process and improve transport efficiency. Today, the company manages the kilometre toll system across 3 Regions in 4 languages, providing services to thousands of drivers each day, offering two different collecting means as a tax for Flanders and Brussels Capital Region and as a fee for Wallonia. Satellic uses satellite positioning technology (GNSS) together with mobile (GSM) and dedicated short range communication (DSRC).

A Decade of Milestones

Satellic’s journey has been marked by significant milestones and achievements:

  • 22 July 2014: Creation of Satellic
  • 25 July 2014: Signature of the DBFMO contract, for Designing, Building, Financing, Maintaining, and Operating the system
  • 1 October 2015: Launch of the Satellic kilometre charging system for HGV as well as the distribution of the On Board Units
  • 1 April 2016: Launch of the commercial operations
